Using Fashion to Advertise to the World

“Brand Awareness” is probably a word we’ve all heard at least once or twice. More and more each year companies are paying top dollar to make sure that their brand is getting as much attention as possible. Even more so now that social media is such a huge driving force in most marketing strategies. However, what did we do before social media? When there was a cause or charity that we cared about, how did we make it known?

Well, obviously there are traditional methods such as flyers, television and radio ads, etc… However, what other creative or out of the box methods were used? Customizable jewelry and accessories seemed to be the answer to the latter. In the late 90’s I’m sure we all recall the appearance of the cloth bracelets with the over-whelming popular phrase “W.W.J.D.” etched onto them. Just about everyone during that time could have been spotted wearing one of those trendy bracelets.

In the early to mid-2000s, the silicone bracelet appeared. The bracelets were created to bring awareness to various events, charities, social causes and more. These bracelets or wristbands have also been called “awareness bracelets.” Around the late 2000s, the silicone wristbands became increasingly popular with concerts and sporting events. (Wikipedia) It seems as though these wristbands made a perfect keepsake for nostalgic concert goers and avid sports fans.

Even now the silicone wristband is still around and quite prevalent. However, now people have begun taking a more personal approach to these multi-purpose bracelets. Most of us love the idea of being able to customize our items to our liking. So much so, that many companies have begun to offer customers the ability to order customized wristbands online. Even though these wristbands are quite simplistic in nature, it doesn’t seem as though they’ll be disappearing anytime soon. In addition to advertising on bracelets, there are many other methods in which companies have used fashion to get their message across to the public. A few other clothing and accessory items that companies and individuals use to advertise are:

  • Lanyards
  • Hats
  • T-shirts

Utilizing items that have dual purposes, such as clothing or accessories, has proven to be an effective tool in marketing to the masses. T-shirt marketing is arguably one of the most powerful tools in advertising. The T-shirt is the perfect vessel in making cultural and political statements. According to Printsome Insights, there are various benefits to using t-shirts in a marketing campaign. Such as:

  • Versatile
  • Cost effective if you are ordering in bulk
  • Can potentially outlast the duration of the campaign or event
  • Can potentially appeal to a wider target audience

Whether it’s a souvenir t-shirt from your favorite bands’ finale concert or a wristband in your support of eradicating cancer, advertising with fashion has many faces. The use of clothing and accessories as a marketing tool to reach the masses is both powerful and beneficial.

Fitness Fabrics: Decreasing Sweat and Odor

Wearing cotton clothing to workout, participate in sports or run is a setup for failure. They can be restrictive, trap water and odor. Instead of wearing that cotton t-shirt or shorts, invest in fitness fabrics. Fitness fabrics are clothes designed with the right material for a workout or run. Some of the fitness fabrics are made with technology that can help a person stay dry and comfortable regardless of how much they sweat.

Most Fitness Fabrics have One Thing in Common: They are Wick Fabrics

A terms are used to describe this fabric. It’s called moisture wicking fabric, wick fabric or moisture wick. It all means the same thing. This is a synthetic fabric draws sweat and moisture into the lightweight, breathable fabric and expels it into the air. For instance, performance long sleeve shirts lift the sweat from a person’s body keeping them dry. The shirts, through wick moisture technology, moves the moisture into the air where it evaporates. Depending on the weather, the material keeps the person cool in warm weather and hot in cooler weather.

Most fitness fabrics will have this moisture wick technology. However, it is important research the fitness fabric before investing in the sportswear. Not all fitness fabrics have this technology.

Nylon is a Soft Fitness Fabric

Nylon used to be for women’s stockings. Today, this soft synthetic fabric is used for exercise and sportswear and is considered a fitness fabric. The material is breathable and mildew resistant. The best part of the nylon workout fabric is that it moves with a person. This means no chaffing or irritation during activities with repetitive movement.

Polypropylene is Fitness Fabric Constructed of Plastic

Polypropylene is another synthetic material. Unlike nylon, this material is completely water-resistant. Polypropylene clothing works as a great base layer of clothing for runners because it keeps sweat at the surface of the fabric. For example, polypropylene material forces the moisture and sweat to the fabric’s surface where it evaporates.

Spandex is the Stretchiest Fitness Fabric on the Market

Spandex, a synthetic fabric, expands almost 600 percent its size for unrestricted range of motion. It snaps back into shape when not stretched. Spandex is breathable, dries quickly and wicks moisture.

Bamboo Pulp Protects the Body from Ultraviolet Rays

Bamboo pulp is a natural fabric that is breathable and wicks moisture. It also protects skin from ultraviolet rays, which is harmful sunlight. It regulates body temperature, repels odors and is simply soft. Bamboo pulp fabric can be combined with organic cotton, spandex, wool to make exercise clothing that may embody all those things.

Invest in Performance Sportswear with Moisture Wick Technology

A person has more than 2.5 million sweat glands in their body. Imagine how much sweat those glands produce when a person is in a hot environment, playing sports, working out or running. Wick fabrics keep the body dry and hide excessive sweating. This makes it one of the best fitness fabrics materials on the market.
